This topic is not worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia.

You can ask the Teahouse for information about the notability requirements.

Particularly, refer to WP.NFF. This is the guideline against the subject's evaluation.

This is a request for an article to be spun off. Proposals to spin out a topic from an article into another stand-alone article should be discussed at the talk page of the existing article, unless the draft satisfies a special notability guide. If the draft satisfies a special notability guide, please identify the notability criterion with a reliable source.

This does not mean the draft should not have been spun off. It does mean that discussion should be on the talk page of the existing article, Talk:Minecraft]. (If the draft is submitted again without discussion on the Talk:Minecraft page and does not comply with a special noteability guide, it might be Rejected or Nominated for Erasure.

Comment: This draft was withdrawn six weeks ago due to insufficient film notability. It does not meet the guidelines for future films. However, this does not mean the film will not be noted in the future. It is not yet notable and is unlikely to become so in the near future. However, the history of the film, beginning in 2014 and continuing at least through 2021, suggests that it may be in development limbo, and there is no way of predicting when it will get out, if it does. This draft has been rejected by a member of the Articles for Creation process. DO NOT resubmit this draft or attempt to resubmit this draft or prepare or submit a draft that is substantially the same as this draft without discussing the reasons for the rejection. You may request a discussion with the rejecting reviewer, or you may request a discussion with the community at the Teahouse. A discussion does not guarantee a resubmission. It should be noted that the reviewer has not decided that the topic is not notable. The topic could be the subject of an article. There is no reason for this draft to become an actual article. Furthermore, there is evidence that it will never become an actual article. If this topic is to become an article, the draft must first be blown out and started over. If the draft is submitted again without discussion and without starting it from scratch, or if a attempt is made to submit this draft or another equivalent draft, but fails to address the Rejection reasons by starting over, the submitting editor may be asked for a partial block or topic-ban. You can ask the Teahouse for advice on Rejection. Robert McClenon (talk), 19 :43, 23 July 2020 UTC

Development

On February 25, 2014, Markus Persson revealed that Mojang was in talks with Warner Bros. to develop a Minecraft film to be produced by Roy Lee and Jill Messick. [1][2] Mojang COO VuBui stated on October 8, 2014 that the movie was still in its early stages of development. He also stated that it was a large-budget production and that it might not be released before 2018. [3][4] Warner Bros. hired Shawn Levy on October 8, 2014. [5] While in December, it became clear that Levy had left the film with Kieran Mulroney's and Michele Mulroney's collaboration on the film's development. Levy may have left because of scheduling and deciding problems between the projects 40 Thieves and Tinkerbell. [6] Warner Bros. announced on July 21, 2015 that Rob McElhenney had been hired to direct the film. [7][8] Warner Bros. hired Jason Fuchs as the writer of the latest draft. The previous draft was written by McElhenney. [9] Steve Carell was cast as an unknown character in the film on November 15, 2016. McElhenney resigned from the film in August 2018, due to scheduling conflicts. The movie was delayed, and Aaron and Adam Nee were tapped to rewrite it. [11] Peter Sollett got hired to direct the film in January 2019. Posthumously, Messick will be credited posthumously as producer. [12] In June 2019, Allison Schroeder received the script. [13] The director changed again in April 2022 with an announcement that Jared Hess would take over. [14] Hubbel Palmer and Chris Bowman were also appointed screenwriters. [15]

Casting

Jason Momoa had just signed a contract to star in the film. [14]

Release

The untitled Minecraft film is currently scheduled by Warner Bros. Pictures. [11] Previously it was scheduled for a 24 May 2019 release, but Warner Bros. later moved the film to 4 March 2022. [16] It is set to be released in IMAX. [17] On 6 October 2020, Warner Bros. removed the film from the release schedule to avoid direct competition with The Batman. [18]
