The latest "Karate Kid" is a reboot of the old and well-known series of karate movies with Daniel Larusso and the charming old man, Mr. Miyagi in the lead roles. The work of Harald Zwart (creator of the picture "Agent Cody Banks") was not to be just a faithful copy of the original, a younger version with better effects, but a tribute to a really successful youth series. Initially, as you could learn from interviews with Jackie Khan, one of the main characters of the picture and the originators of the work, the film even had a different title.

However, "Karate Kid" remained, and the new version of the original is one of the few examples of when a remake matches the original. Scenarioally, "Karate Kid" does not differ from the original. The story is practically the same, the same threads, motifs and problems, but they were shown from a completely different angle.

Despite the duplication of the script, the film can surprise, and watching, only in theory, the same scenes do not get boring, moreover, they are followed with undisguised pleasure. It is worth mentioning that unlike the original, the remake action takes place in China. This significantly affects the story presented by the scriptwriters. The new place of action gives the production a specific climate. Another significant change compared to the original are the much more extensive relationship between Dre and his mother.

Also more attention was paid to the main character himself. Dre is a young adolescent boy. Like all teenagers, he rebels and experiences typical age problems. In addition, it is difficult for him to find himself in a new reality, dangerous for him, without friends.

In a country where everything around is foreign, even the language itself. Definitely the motive for moving (and the problems and consequences arising from it) is one of the most interesting in the entire production. However, the topic of love and the tournament seems interesting. "Karate Kid" just like the original can move. Mr. Han's past or Dre's struggle with his opponents can take heart. The new version, different from the original, provides many opportunities for laughter. As is known not from today, Jackie Chan has an extraordinary comedy talent and although in "Karate Kid" he will start more serious than usual, he will amuse us many times. Characteristic scenes from the original are also often presented by the artists in a distorting mirror, thanks to which the production entertains from the beginning to the very end. The film also has a place for a bit of romanticism. The love thread between Dre and Meiying, although a bit naive, is really well watched. It is interestingly presented, it is not just another clog, nothing added to the film. There is also room for a message in "Karate Kid". The problem of acceptance, removal, finding a new reality is discussed. The fight and training scenes deserve special attention. In the new "Karate Kid" they are masterfully made. They are effective, imaginative and breathtaking, you certainly can't complain about this element of the film.

It is similar with music, which fits well with the image and the landscapes observed on the screen. It is rhythmic in places, at other times so calm, melancholic, mysterious. As usual, the scenery is eye-catching. It is beautiful, Chinese towns and villages, charming temples, the famous Great Wall of China, there is something to admire. This element always stood at a high level in "Karate Kid". Acting looks good, young Jaden Smith did just great. The rest of the actors played correctly, but without fireworks. Jackie played as much as the script required of him. It was nice to see him in a completely different role, so far he was the student.

This time, we could watch him as a champion and coach and I must admit that he did very well. The new "Karate Kid" is a perfect tribute to the popular youth karate series. The creators have kept the spirit of the series and created a really interesting and intriguing movie that most fans will love. I won't be surprised if it gets a fairly large group of supporters among young film fans. .
