Starting with the Premier League title for this season, we have two Manchester teams going for it on the last day. Manchester City is the favorites till now separated from second placed United with a goal difference of 8. However, being equal on points, anything less than a win against QPR could prove expensive for City in their attempt to win the title after 44 years. Manchester will do everything to win the last game, but their one eye would be focused on City's game.

Thus far Reading is without a win with their 5 points coming out of draws. They've struggled to shore up a shaky defense that really hasn't been upgraded since gaining promotion. So far as stats go, they have had difficulties with aims, namely keeping them out. The Royals have scored 12 goals, but let 18 resulting in their -6 goal difference.

John Terry's difficulty: Chelsea's captain John Terry got involved in issues that had to do with marital infidelity and this rocked the team and caused them some psychological/emotional distress as their captain lost his captainship of the English national team. They soon put everything behind them.

Lapses of concentration, fatigue, (whatever the pundits feel comfortable with) saw the Gunners squander a comfortable lead in March (a la Newcastle) and surrendered the title to a resurgent United. Harry Kewell and Leeds likely hit the last nail on a campaign that faltered at the very end. United, always waiting in the wings waved thank you sir and simply cruised by.

Next, English teams rely very much on stamina, speed and power. To put it differently, they are very physical teams. They always keep running and pass the ball quickly. In contrast, Italian teams tend to play a bit slower in building up an attack and focus more on accurate passing. So, when English teams accelerate the pace, Italian teams just cannot keep up with the speed of the game. It may keep them under pressure in the whole game. Consequently, it is more likely that English teams create more chances to score goals and win the game.

I'm not so sure that Wenger's time is up anytime soon in the Emirates, but fans are restless and making comments about placing fourth in the Premier League being as good as a trophy really don't help his case. You can add to the the perception that he may be getting a kickback from the owners for continuing to sell without buying, and the case against him gets stronger.

Teams finishing in the last 3 places are automatically demoted to the Football League Championship. There aren't any'play offs' to see who goes down unless the bottom two draw points. The play off match is played at a neutral place.
